Kind of Blue

It’s really kinda sad how long it took me to get into jazz.

I really like this Miles Davis piece (not to mention all the others). There are some really great textures here, I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about the process you used. Was it painted on wood? How did you paint the background? Is Miles painted with Acrylic? And how did you design Miles? I assume photoshop from a picture, but then did you sketch it, trace it…?
Again, it looks great
Thanks,
Grant
hi Grant. glad you like the Miles piece. The piece is on wood about 48″ x 36″. I painted the background with a light wash of acrylic paints. the added some spray paint to give it the dotted texture. i designed the miles piece off one of Miles’ album covers. i simplified my drawing by reducing the number of colors i planned on using. then drew it on the wood and painted it over with acrylic. this took a lot of layers and forever to do. redid his face until i was happy with it.
Thanks for responding. The wood with acrylic wash-I’ll have to try that. It gives a really unique texture
I like to draw and code.
